Where does the
database of private company financial information come from?
Source information is submitted directly from participating companies that
upload a single file from their accounting systems. All data is converted
into industry standard reporting categories and aggregated by peer group.
Peer groups are organized based on standard industry codes (such as SIC or
NAICS). Benchmarking reports present the aggregate average of all companies
in the peer group. In order to view these reports, your company must include
its own metrics into the pooled averages.
What about system
security? Is my financial information kept confidential?
Our industry benchmarking service is safe, secure and completely anonymous.
Individual company results are never disclosed. All benchmarking metrics are
presented as aggregate averages that represent performance of the industry,
not performance of a company. User access is protected by the most advance
data security and encryption technology available today.
How are the industry
trends kept up to date?
Unlike annual survey-based data, our industry trends are updated
every month with current information as subscribing companies close their
books. Trends are updated to show the direction of your business performance
relative to the direction of the industry.
What makes these
financial comparisons meaningful?
You are not limited by standard or static reports. With this service, you
can select the metrics and views that best meet your needs. Customizable peer
group parameters allow you to choose company averages that are truly comparable
to your business. Choose from a variety of industry categories, then refine
your selection based on geography, size and other attributes.
What steps do
I take after my benchmarking account is established?
Using the system's upload function, you will submit a single file (trial balance
report) from your accounting system when you close your books each month.
Your trial balance information is converted to industry-standard categories,
and the trends are compared to an average of other companies in your peer
group. After uploading, you can login to compare your company's financial
performance to the latest peer group trends and averages.
